What is urine drug testing and how does urine drug testing work?
Urine drug testing is administered millions of times per year in a variety of situations including employment and law enforcement. While we don't encourage anyone to violate the law but you should be aware that in many instances you are quite within your rights to try to pass urine drug testing which is administered by your employer.

The oldest, most controversial and most used type of drug test is the urine drug test. The increase in use of the urine drug test in our schools and workplaces over the last 2 decades have yielded mixed responses. On one hand you have employers concerned about productivity and safety, on the other hand you have employess concerned about their privacy outside of the workplace.

Urine drug testing is used in a number of situations including pre-employment, randomly, post-accident, for cause and return to duty. Basically, your employer has the right to test you for drug use just about anytime they choose.

What is urine drug testing?

Also known as urinalysis, this procedure requires that one provide a sample of urine.

In some instances a urine drug test is performed on site with a 'dip stick' which is dipped in the urine sample and a chemical reaction occurs. If this tests positive then generally a second confirmation urine test is performed with ggas chromatography/mass spectrometry (also known as GCMS), high performance liquid chromatography or immunoassay analysis. at a certified lab.

What does urine drug testing test for?

Most urine drug testing is performed for the drug used in the NIDA 5. These include Cocaine , marijuana, opiates, amphetamines and barbituates. Most drug use today will fall in those 5 categories.
